You can also follow the road south from the Redridge Mountains. Follow the road south from Darkshire and turn west with the road. However, exiting at Ironforge actually faces your character at ~ 160° (again, using the (X,Y) grid with the point of origin being where you exit the tram). Enter Stormwind First of all it should be mentioned that if you want to reach some point on the map while you're still low level, and the way is too dangerous, your best bet is to have a mage friend who can portal you to the capital cities for your faction. That should get you closer to where you want to go. Any Alliance mage level 40 or higher should have the portal spells for Ironforge and Stormwind Unlike Horde zeppelins, the Deeprun Tram is not guarded by Alliance guards. It is also especially handy to Horde players wishing to get from Ironforge to Stormwind or vice versa.
Get down to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale, take a boat to Ratchet in the Southern Barrens, ride south along the coast. Get to Menethil Harbor north of Ironforge and take a boat directly to Theramore. Ask in Trade chat or General chat for a mage player to make you a portal there.
Ironforge and Stormwind are roughly north/south of each other, and there's no major body of water between them. Yet the tram, according to the minimap, runs due east/west. Also, it seems to either run through the ocean in the middle, or else the gnomes built a giant aquarium containing life-sized ship wrecks and sharks. Take the tram through to Ironforge and get crackin first east from IF and then north into Loch Modan. Past the dam and through the passage onward to the Wetlands and Menthil Harbor.
